So this has been done for about a week now, but I am finally getting to post this! I am so excited to share my quilt that I made. I've never made a quilt before so it is a little rough (as in all of the squares don't exactly match up), but it isn't like Declan will mind that. Pictured above is the final product.

For this I cut out forty 7" x 7" squares. I had three different solid colors and four different patterned ones. I alternated the squares so that every other one was a pattern and every other one was just a solid color. I loved how well all of the colors tied together. Honestly it worked out a lot better than I ever thought.

For my rows, I did 5 squares across. Pictured above is my first row. Just like the patterns and the colors are alternating, I did have a rotating pattern for each of the different fabrics. For the solid colors it was red, blue, and yellow. For the patterned fabrics it went Superman, Spiderman, Batman, and Marvel Comic.

I then did 8 columns down. Pictured above is the finished front of the quilt. It ended up being a 35" x 56" quilt.

To make sure that the backing was the same size, I laid the front face down onto the fabric. I used a black minky fabric. It's soft and actually the same material of Steven and I's couch blanket. I'm pretty sure Declan is going to love being wrapped in it, especially since he's going to be born during the harsh Utah winter. Anyways, I sewed the back and front together, leaving about a 6 inch hole in the bottom so I could flip it inside out. I sewed the hole closed and then sewed a black satin ribbon around the edges to cover up the seams.

I really am so proud of how this turned out and I am glad to see our nursery slowly coming together. Now all we need is Declan to get here!
